I found a giveaway all-in-one printer on the side of the road today, used, but clean and neatly packaged in its original box.

The print function on my last all-in-one stopped working after some manhandling that I did about a decade ago, which was fine, because while scanning is important, printing is something I only want to do maybe once or twice a year (because only boomers and people in offices regularly print things), so I was never QUITE motivated to buy a new printer, and for my bi-annual printed document, I would just do it at work or something. So a printer - a thing I don't need, but kind of mildly want - was the perfect thing to find on the side of the road.

Anyway, I get it home and set it up, and there are no ink cartridges in there. No surprise, but it turns out the cocksucker won't even scan if it detects that there are no cartridges! The whole thing locks up! My old one certainly didn't hold the scanner hostage for not forking over your pound of flesh to the ink Jew. Man, the relentlessness of the ink trade knows no shame. I heard HP actually pushed a firmware update some time ago where if you dare to put in one of those off-brand ink cartridges, it won't work.

So I'm going to get some ink for it I guess!
