I weighed about 180 getting out of boot camp and I was very gaunt. Then I weighed on average 225 for the 4 years I was in the Marines but after getting out of Iraq I just drank and drank beer and got up to about 270. Since then I stay a bit below that.

After about an 8 month drinking bender, I was 5 foot ten, 190 pounds. I'm about 184 now but I'm huge and super strong from working out.

Also, every time I'm gaining weight I'm actually insane and have lost weight, same as Peter.

I weighed myself today at 219 lbs. (at 6'4") which is the lowest I've been since I went on a two week whiskey bender and stoppped eating.

Even though I ate like a slob on the weekend I basically burned it all away in the move to my new apartment. It was a little upsetting to confirm my suspicions during the move that I essentially have no upper body strength.

I think it's a bit silly to consider your weight gain and loss in terms of what you did on an individual weekend, and not general trends and habits in your life.

The hardest thing was not feeling like I was minutes away from dying of heart failure.

That's also when I was smoking, and drinking a lot of coffee, and only standing up from the computer or couch long enough to go eat Chilis or Jack in the Box for dinner.

Not that nowadays is dramatically different, but it's different.

Working out is a funny thing, when you actually think about what a "sacrifice" it isn't.

I mean, your choice is either to be deathly out of shape and have health problems but get all 24 of your precious hours to yourself, OR you can be in decent shape, prolong your life, feel better, and have 22 hours. Hellooo!
