I have all the Black Isle games (I actually still need to beat Baldurs Gate 1, but it's surprisingly hard to go back after playing Baldurs Gate 2 first). Icewind Dale 2 was a massive dissapointment. There was no balance in the class system (there was no reason to take a fighter above level 4, thief also had problems, but wasn't as bad as fucking Fighter). I'll admit the gameplay was still very good, but the fucking story is such a letdown after Icewind Dale's which was very tongue in cheek and mocked faggy rpg conventions so badly.

I guess no one has played Wasteland.

I would recommend Fallout before Fallout 2 (although the gameplay improvements of 2 are kind of nice in some regards the first one is still a better game).

Wizardry 8 is a good game, but it suffers from the enemy movement system (while you party is fairly rigid) which somehow gives players a strategic advantage by backing themselves into a corner. Despite my snideness it's still a very good game. I get a big boner over games that let me customize my character to a ridiculous level (also creating a party from scratch is king). I'll probably try 7 pretty soon because the sprite graphics actually seem a tad more appealing, and it doesn't do the retarded shit with the movement that 8 does.

The first Jagged Alliance was good, but ridiculously hard early on. The rpg elements are very well done and building up a squad of psychotic mercenaries is very entertaining. I never played the sequel, but it's supposed to be just about the pinnacle of turnbased squad combat games (with the exception of X-Com which is obviously king, also apparently Irrational games is working on a new one).

Irenicus is a shitty villain.

I've always been a fan of the Lucasarts games. Day of the Tentacle was a favorite when I was younger. I've been meaning to dry and dig up a copy of Grim Fandango because it's been pretty highly recommended, and I've never tried Full Throttle.

I tried Wasteland but got a shitty emulation that was barely playable, so I can't tell you anything!

I always bitterly regretted not having played Fallout 1 before 2, because I could never get used to the gameplay not being as good in 1. But fuck, I guess it introduced me to the Ink Spots!

I don't really get what you're talking about with Wasteland. Are you talking about the 1986 one? Because going that far back is a bit difficult because graphics are incredibly dated.

Old Dos Games

First of all, get the newest Versions of DosBox ( .70 ) and Scummvm (get a frontend for dosbox as well)

Beneath a Steel Sky (cyberpunk adventure, it's freeware now, get the full voice version version)
Leasure suit larry 1 VGA (This is the remake by serrea, very good)
Dreamweb (this game is fucking awesome, great cyberpunk atmosphere, keep a walkthrough handy though)
Death Gate (this was a great fantasy Adventure game, keep multiple saves though, there are parts of this game where you can get stuck in situwations and have no way out, happened to me)
Neuromancer (its fucking old and ugly as hell, but good)
Betrayal at Krondor (its freeware now, I havent played it yet but everyone keeps saying its fucking awesome, fantasy RPG/adventure hybrid)

I know im forgetting a ton of shit, but yeah, these are some good games.

You might have some trouble coming across it, but it's worth it.

I remember being really disturbed when I fought the Child Killing Dwarf in Baldur's Gate and he summons the spirits of the children he killed to fight you.
