Yeah, but that's a standalone game. For some reason I thought there was a series that was realtime, but maybe I just assumed the later M&M games were such because of the full 3D environment. |

I think they might have been, but I can't remember the last Might and Magic game (non heroes) that was released. |

They weren't. I had both of the Xeen games, and they were turn based. Although there was the illusion of it being realtime, but they really just reacted after you did your attacks. Oh, and you could see the enemies in the distance. |

A lot of those old rpgs from a first person perspective had that pseudo real time feel though. |

An RPG is really just a Turn Based wargame where you only control one or a small number of units that have a lot more detail. |

Depends on the game really. I would categorize a lot of pc rpgs that way. In particular ones released in the late 90s which bore numerous resemblences with squad based combat games. |

Watching more videos this game seems pretty incredible. RPGS should use a sci fi/horror atmosphere more often. |

Unfortunately that's a niche, and games, like most media, are targeted almost exclusively at the mainstream. |

I play them, but honestly how many games can you fight fucking dragons and orcs?
Honestly, elves are faggy, and horrificly mutated humans are far more interesting. |

I'm fully in favour of niche games, and wish there were more. Niche media is wildly more popular than mainstream media, because the mainstream just cannibalizes itself. The mainstream doesn't really spawn the same type of rabid fanbase, either. |

This game has the same type of 40s and 50s music coupled with the creepy atmosphere music like Fallout as well.
In general there's a lot of types of niche media that I'll get into. I'm much more likely to purchase new games (ones that don't belong to an existing series) when from niche media than shit from mainstream media which has a tendency to all be the same. I wished more companies realized how much atmosphere and setting are important to a game. |

Also dynamic and persistent worlds are far more intersting than scripted events most of the time. |

Scripted events really only work for the survival horror genre and console rpgs (which are nothing but scripted events). Other genres have no excuse to use them.
Although, a survival horror game in a dynamic would be pretty incredible if it was done right. I know that's what STALKER (or whatever the Chernobyl game is called) was trying to do, but that game looks like it plays out too much like an fps for my taste. I might still pick it up at some point, but I'm not that interested in it at the moment. |

Using telekinesis to set a teddy bear on fire and burn your enemies to death while launching their grenades back at them is pretty awesome.
Telekinesis isn't incorporated into enough games, and when it is it's usually done wrong. |

Have you ever played Psi-ops: The Mindgate Cospiracy, Derek? That was a pretty fun action game that used telekinesis among other powers pretty well. |

I've heard of it, but I've never tried it. Maybe I'll pick up a used copy if I see it cheap.
System Shock 2 has a good psychic power system I believe, but I'm not positive. I'll find out soon after I finish downloading it off bit torrent. |

I know people who love that series. I've honestly never tried it although I've seen people play it. |

I wrote fanfiction for it. One of my characters was called Ma'adalli or something. |
