Uh, theldorrin, its a well known fact that slaveowners took better physical care of their slaves than industrialists did of their workers.

Actually, the worker is much more disposable because he is not a lifetime investment, unless you want to use slaves in conditions that are already inherently dangerous. Thats why the south seldom used slaves in industry or mining, and only louisiana really used slaves in sugar caning.


Latin america and the carribean is a different story, but then again they didnt use slaves nearly as efficiently, they put them in dangerous professions like sugar caning because that gave the quickest profits in the short run.
