Its ridicolous that there is no thread for this.
I guess I don't really like football that much either but I've been watching Iran's games. We drawed Nigeria, and lost 1-0 to Argentine, which was very good for us, because we didn't think we could be in a situation where we would ever hope to beat Argentine, but we nearly did it, if not for some very suspicious refree desicions. Our next match is against Bosnia, and if we beat Bosnia and Argentine beats Nigeria, we could go to the elimination rounds.
This world cup seems to have had several surprises that underdogs have been kicking ass. Costa Rico qualified for the next round, beating Uruguay, Italy, and drawing with England, all three previous champions.
Mexico's goalkeeper is great, I saw him against Brazil, and they couldn't get anything passed him.
Some teams got a good thrashing which we didn't expect, like Netherlands scoring 5-1 against Spain.
The first round is almost over, and tonight is Iran's match! |

I haven't watched any of the games, but I want America to win precisely because nobody here really gives a shit. |

I think USA will eventually become a relatively strong team, because it has the population, budget, and racial diversity, to become champions. I guess the only reason it hasn't happened yet is because you guys are two busy playing in your own world championships which usually consists of just your own country. |

The US simply doesn't value soccer enough to create superstar players. In Brazil they start professional soccer training at 8 years old. In the US 8 year old soccer players are playing on teams coached by someone's dad, learning bullshit lessons about selflessness and teamwork instead of doing rigorous training drills. This shit goes all the way to College soccer, where contrary to World Cup rules, coaches are unrestricted in how many substitutions they can make, so players don't build the stamina they need to be able to perform at a high level for the longer periods of time they'll be spending on the field.
Frankly I don't give any shits about soccer and have only watched snippets of a couple games, but I think it's funny that people think the US actually has a shot this year. |

Nobody thinks the World Series is about the entire world just because it has the word world in its name for some stupid old timey reason. The Superbowl does not presume to involve the world. Neither does the NBA finals, nor the Stanley Cup. America uber alles. |

Yeah, foreigners love bitching about the World Series. It's like their #3 complaint, behind our month/day/year format and the imperial system. Get over it bitches. |

The most annoying complaint is "duh your not americans, we're all americans!"
Canadians are the biggest pussies in the fucking universe. _________________ To continue is power -Shitbeast |

I'm just kinda impressed that McDonalds and stuff is holding contests to win a trip to go and have a very real possiblity of being murdered in Brazil. |

Brazil is a country where people are actually murdered over soccer games. Referees carry knives because they know that fans are absolutely willing to draw and quarter them. |

I don't really think it's even accurate to say that no one in the US cares about soccer anymore. The game against Portugal got better TV ratings than the World Series or the NBA Finals!
I skipped out of work today to watch the game against Germany, the entire American team played like balls but whatever, we're moving on anyway.
The Iran - Argentina game was great because after Messi scored at the end, ISIS immediately congratulated him for defeating the Shiites and invited him to Iraq to join their jihad. |

That'd be pretty hot if not for her kinda weird body. It's hard to tell with the paint but it seems like she has weird giant super stretched areolas or something. Who was the girl who bounced out of her top? Got a picture? |
