Black Flag is probably the best band ever, because fuck the police straight outta Compton and gangsta gangsta are not enough content. Circle Jerks Group Sex is 1A in best album ever, with Black Flag Damaged being 1B. I found I don't like the dead Kennedy's or minor threat anymore. This Germs album I listened to is good. Well, Damaged was the beginning and end of American hardcore, pretty amazing it did more than people thought could be possible all the while doing everything that could be done. If there is one album to define a genre to the point it could be called the genre, Black Flags Damaged is it.

I don't know what you're talking about and don't care if you don't like Husker Du. I never listen to hardcore other than the one hardcore Dead Kennedys EP and Suicidal Tendencies by Suicidal Tendencies.

Outland, the Sex Pistols are just one of many punk groups that basically played classic rock only with snotty vocals and lyrics.

The Ramones is my favorite punk group. I would like a CD that is their first four albums in sequence with no bonus tracks. I think about the Ramones and fantasize about there someday being a technology for regular people to make CDs.

Prog rock, rather. Black Flag created hardcore, but their own album in which they never tried to duplicate actually took it and made it so it basically ended with that one album. Any attempts hardcore made to progress have not happened, because everything one could do with sound was done in 36 minutes. Before that they were whoo party yeah it appeared, though that was not the prevailing thought. I cannot think of anything more important to ever happen to the shitty static gay dead punk rawk than them fellas in Black Flag, Greg Ginn is responsible for a band bigger in an important way than virtually any in its time, more innovative, and his label pumped out a ton of shit that wasn't shit. Hell, Black Flag epitomizes DIY, I remember my brother was ordering a couple albums or some shit over the phone and realized he was talking to Greg fucking Finn, head of SST and still probably among the most talented guitarists in music over the phone, ordering some God damn SST merchandise.

His brother was mentally ill and would sit in the dark never speaking, and also produced the lord God of all album covers, the Police Story single/EP/I don't know what these acronyms mean

I appreciate that their music is unbelievably good, instrumentally, but I'm a shallow person and vocals are my thing. I mean, I was told when I received it that the husker du album my brother sent me was basically perfect, and then I hear a man with a melodic voice and I went back to Group Sex.

I agree with everything that Gimp Mask said in this thread, other than his opinion on Husker Du because I've never listened to them. Damaged and My War are classic, immensely influential albums that I can scream every lyric to. I've attempted to learn Greg Ginn solos note for note, and can actually play about 50% of the solo to "Slip It In"

I don't know if they can be considered "punk" per se, but Fugazi is the absolute tits and is my favorite band. Here is a good Fugazi song:
