ATLANTA, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- A woman forcefully held by Jacksonville, Fla., police while she was in premature labor may sue for unlawful arrest but not for excessive force, a court ruled.

Melanie Dawn Williams, 28, was seven months pregnant and driving to a hospital on doctor's orders in 2005 when she ran a red light, a police report said.

Two officers chased her to the hospital, tackled her in the emergency room and dragged her, handcuffed, back outside, the report said.

Eventually a nurse came outside, found Williams bleeding from premature labor and insisted she be taken to the hospital's labor and delivery unit, where doctors successfully staved off labor.

She spent 10 days in the hospital. The officers were disciplined, The (Jacksonville) Florida Times-Union reported.

One officer told internal affairs investigators Williams hadn't mentioned being pregnant until they handcuffed her, but a panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta said that didn't matter.

It said that once they knew Williams was in medical distress, police had no right to make an arrest.

But the judges said Williams could not pursue a separate excessive-force claim.

"Although we agree ... that the deputies' behavior was reprehensible, we disagree that the evidence supports a finding that the force was excessive," the judges said.

The appeals court sent the case back to Jacksonville for further proceedings.

EUGENE, Ore., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- An Oregon man has been charged with making threatening phone calls to Planned Parenthood threatening to blow up its clinic in Eugene.

Federal investigators say Gregory Paul Freeman, 56, of Eugene also made anti-Semitic calls to the president of the University of Oregon and a Masonic lodge, The Portland Oregonian reported. He was charged Monday in a criminal information with the threat to Planned Parenthood.

The investigation began when David Frohnmayer, a former state legislator and attorney general who now heads the university, got an anti-Semitic message on his home phone in late 2008. That call and others to Frohnmayer and a Masonic lodge were traced to a local number, and when Eugene Police Officer Dallas Hall called the number she got a message back telling her not to call the number again.

"And in the meantime, you go down and blow up an abortion clinic," she was told

Planned Parenthood received a call on Dec. 30, 2009: "Uh, please go ahead and dial the, uh, United States of America, because I'm going to burn your abortion clinic down because you are a baby killer and you hate babies."

Freeman has not been charged with the other calls.

I could see a 9 year old kid making a prank phone call of that caliber, but for a 56 year old guy that's just weak.

Also he should try to pick one target and stick with it! Either stay with abortion clinics or the Jews or the Masons! It's no good if you're all over the place like that, Freeman!

Yeah that screencap doesn't really mean anything, all he would have to do is get a couple wrong while the powerhouses he was playing against consistently buzzed in before him which is nothing to be ashamed of.

SUSPECTED cannibals killed a young man, ate part of him and then sold other bits to a kebab house.

Cops also believe the 25-year-old victim's body parts may have been used to fill pies.

The trio of homeless men were arrested in Russia - accused of murdering the man with knives and a hammer.

Prosecutors revealed: "After carrying out the crime, the corpse was divided up - part of it was eaten and part of it was sold to a kiosk selling kebabs and pies."

Suspicions were raised when dismembered parts of a human body were found near a bus stop in the outskirts of the Russian city of Perm - which is 720 miles east of Moscow.

The three men all have criminal records, said Russian cops.

They have been arrested on suspicion of killing their victim - who has not been named - before chopping up his corpse to eat.

Detectives for the Prem region released the astonishing statement that the human remains could have been used for kebabs and pies on their www.susk.perm.ru website.

The restaurant chain Cheesecake Factory will pay $345,000 to six male employees who said they were sexually harassed and assaulted by other male employees at the restaurant at Chandler Fashion Center

Four men filed charges with the EEOC: Bryce Fitzpatrick, Albert Miller, Jesse DeJong and Michael Wilson. Two others, John Andrews and Julio Muñoz, joined the class action.

The EEOC said the evidence overwhelmingly showed that the abusers touched the victims inappropriately, made sexually charged remarks and forced the victims into incidents of simulated rape. Managers also witnessed employees dragging the men kicking and screaming into a refrigerated room, the EEOC said.
